Week 3 ~ Ruth
I can't believe it's week 3! I'm sure most people in my position have said this.
I'm already starting to get nostalgic now that I realize how much time is limited. My family has been so kind and loving that I wish I could really give them as much as they have given me. I know that I will treasure the memories I have made with them. And I'm thankful for the many pictures they have taken that will hold some of these memories.
Week 3 has been eventful to say the least. I was able to go to downtown Concepcion for the first time. I remember being surprised at how big the center city was. The shops were endless and there were many people out and about for a Monday. I guess I didn't realize how urban it truly was.
On Tuesday, I was able to visit both the markets in Chillán and the termas de Chillan (hot springs). Both were lovely experiences. I had never been in natural hot springs in my life until now. The heat surprised me at my first step in the water, yet like most people, I couldn't help but want to go in deeper. My body gradually getting used to the heat, it was very relaxing. And it's funny to think that I had previously been freezing cold in the same outside weather conditions.
This week what has probably been impressed on my heart the most is how caring everyone has been. I feel overwhelmed with love. I was able to experience a nice dinner at an elegant restaurant on Monday. Then on Tuesday, we were able to experience an elegant asado (barbecue) at the school. I loved seeing the cultural Chilean dances such as "La Cueca" and even got to learn a few steps. Of course I need a lot more practice to properly dance La Cueca. Yet I admire the dancers I got to see. I even was able to listen to a couple teachers sing and wow, they can really sing! It was so good! Then today, Wednesday I attended a "cocktail hour" with my Chilean family and was highly honored and pleasantly surprised that the school actually gave us lovely hats. There is too much to write but truly, I am so grateful for it all!

¡No puedo creer que sea la semana 3! Estoy seguro de que la mayoría de las personas en mi posición han dicho esto.
Ya estoy empezando a sentir nostalgia ahora que me doy cuenta de cuánto tiempo es limitado. Mi familia ha sido tan amable y cariñosa que desearía poder darles todo lo que ellos me han dado. Sé que atesoraré los recuerdos que he hecho con ellos. Y estoy agradecido por las muchas fotos que tomaron que guardarán algunos de estos recuerdos.
La semana 3 ha sido memorable por decir lo menos. Pude ir al centro de Concepción por primera vez. Recuerdo que me sorprendió lo grande que era el centro de la ciudad. Las tiendas eran infinitas y había mucha gente por un lunes. Supongo que no me di cuenta de lo urbano que era en realidad.
El martes pude visitar los mercados de Chillán y las termas de Chillán. Ambas fueron experiencias encantadoras. Nunca había estado en aguas termales naturales en mi vida hasta ahora. El calor me sorprendió en mi primer paso en el agua, pero como la mayoría de las personas, no pude evitar querer ir más profundo. Mi cuerpo se fue acostumbrando gradualmente al calor, era muy relajante. Y es gracioso pensar que previamente me he estado congelando en las mismas condiciones climáticas externas.
Esta semana, lo que probablemente más me ha impresionado en mi corazón es lo atentos que han sido todos. Me siento abrumado por el amor. Pude experimentar una buena cena en un elegante restaurante el lunes. Luego, el martes, pudimos experimentar un elegante asado (barbacoa) en la escuela. Me encantó ver los bailes culturales chilenos como "La Cueca" e incluso pude aprender algunos pasos. Claro que necesito mucha más práctica para bailar adecuadamente La Cueca. Sin embargo, admiro a los bailarines que tengo que ver. Incluso pude escuchar a un par de maestros cantar y wow, ¡realmente pueden cantar! ¡Fue tan bueno! Luego, hoy, miércoles, asistí a una "hora de cóctel" con mi familia chilena y me sentí muy honrado y gratamente sorprendido de que la escuela nos haya brindado encantadores sombreros. Hay mucho que escribir pero, en verdad, ¡estoy muy agradecido por todo esto!
